Louise Onions was born on Lady Day in 1962 in a private nursing home near Southampton, favoured by the local BBC wives. She was three weeks overdue and during the pregnancy, Lulu’s mother, Doris struggled with the smell of the
nearby Fawley Oil Refinery.
In addition, another family’s disabled child had been born some time before in the rented home at Hedgend.
Doris had suffered with serious post-natal depression with her first daughter, Sarah and was given tablets for pre-menstrual tension as she and her husband journalist Ron were trying for Lulu.
But Louise’s 46 year story touched everyone she met.
