The series The Pursuits of Darleen Fyles takes an irreverent look at Darleen and Jamie and their new baby.

The show which goes out each evening on Radio 4 in the UK at 7.45 pm seems to be able to achieve an irreverent touch despite the sensitive subject.

In fact, the new parents are just like any other with their new baby girl. Darleen and Jamie’s first night with the infant is a long and sleepless one, with several calls to Darleen’s mum Treena for advice.

The actors playing the couple themselves have learning disabilities – Donna Lavin and Edmund Davies and it was created in part through improvisation.

There are four more episodes this week.

It follows the launch of a new TV show on the Netflix service called Atypical about an autistic boy which has not been received warmly by autism campaigners.
