Nearly 40 NHS clinical commissioning groups are introducing rules about ongoing care of the disabled according to the Guardian newspaper.

It could lead to disabled people currently living semi-independently at home to be forced into care homes.

A campaign group Disability United used Freedom of Information Requests to find about a plan to save money on the care of the disabled.

The clinical groups are prepared to pay between 10 and 40 percent above the cost of a care home to support an individual at home.

But if the cost rises about 40 percent then the disabled person would be faced with an ‘alternative option’ – a care home reported the Heath Service Journal.
