Poor old beach huts at Hove.
Happier days at Saltdean – a few miles to the east.
Although as Louise’s mother recalled in Don’t Bring Lulu; Her Family’s Tale of Trial and Triumph it’s rarely still on the English Channel,
‘Then there was the wind. It was blowing a bit when we first met the builder on the bungalow site. I asked him ‘Does the wind always blow like this?’ and he said, ‘What wind? Many years later the conservatory roof was to disappear in a 70 miles-per-hour gale.
