One of the authors of ‘Don’t Bring Lulu – a Family Tale of Triumph and Trial’ has just returned from a visit to Poland to promote the book.
Sarah Onions visited a children’s centre in the ex-mining town in Poland where local youngsters get some extra attention at after-school sessions run by a charity.
She chatted to the group who wanted to know when British children start school.
Sarah explained to a TV reporter from the website daminfo how she has used her journalistic skills to write the book and also developed research techniques to compile it with her late father Ron Onions.
He was the BBC’s first news organiser based in New York and covered the death of Martin Luther King and the Apollo 11 moonshot.
The news feature which is running on the TV channel’s website also showed the children with volunteer Patrycja Flisiak and the Director of the Charity Ryszard Nowak. Translation and interpreting was supplied by Walbryzch-born Maciek Bielski.
Now Sarah is looking for a linguist to translate an excerpt of ‘Don’t Bring Lulu – a Family Tale of Triumph and Trial’ into Polish.
