Here are some pix of the BBC team broadcasting from the tiny studio booth at the press centre in Mission Control, Houston, Texas covering the landing of the first men on the moon in July 1969.

You can see the corporation’s aviation corr Reg Turnhill (who died last year aged 97)

Ron Onions, Image0009the BBC’s first news organiser based in New York City and co -author of  ‘Don’t Bring Lulu – a Family Tale of Trial and Triumph’ and Charles Wheeler, who was later knighted for services to broadcasting.
