Doris Onions, Lulu’s mother, died on Tuesday in West Middlesex Hospital in South West London. She had been suffering from Parkinson’s Disease for two years and was 85.
Doris had been responsible for safeguarding all the family archives relating to Louise’s life. When Ron and Sarah Onions started to write the book in 2009, they were able to easily draw on all the letters, photos, minutes of meetings and keepsakes relating to the struggle to support the child.
Some of the ideas, inspirations and news cuttings will be discussed on this blog in the next few weeks.
Doris had been educated at Enfield County Grammar School for girls and then studied, as a mature student, at the Royal Academy of Music where she gained an LRAM Dip to teach drama.
The funeral date for Doris’ cremation will be given out once it has been arranged.
Her ashes will be buried in the churchyard of St Mary’s in Battle in Sussex which is referred to at the end of Don’t Bring Lulu, with those of her husband Ron and their loved second daughter,Lulu.
