Presenters of the AM show on LBC

Bob Holness and Doug Cameron

LBC’s AM show hosted by presenters Bob Holness and Doug Cameron attracted more listeners than the Today programme in the autumn of 1977.
The two radio men had built up a rapport and a loyal audience and the show was marketed in various ways.
The slogan ‘I am an AM lover’ was coined and appeared on car bumper stickers and milk bottles were decorated with LBC’s frequency and the phrase ‘More snap, less crackle,no pop’.
Bob and Doug had fun on air as this picture shows – the AM studio at Gough Square off Fleet Street was leaking and the Editorial Director Ron Onions persuaded the London paper to come round and capture the moist moment.
