And the winner is…..
The Prix Italia is the oldest and most glamorous international competition for broadcasting.
It was first launched by RAI – Radio Audizioni Italiane – the Italian state-owned broadcaster, back in 1948 on the island of Capri.
There are three main categories – Radio, Television and Web. Within these there are several sub-categories such as drama, documentary, music, performing arts, as well as best use of multimedia.
The festival is held annually in the second half of September. Various cultural events happen alongside the Prix Italia, building the atmosphere and the occasion.
Top names in the business are invited along and previous nominees include David Attenborough, Bertolt Brecht, Max Frisch, and Sidney Pollack.
Nowadays over 90 organisations are involved, from 48 countries across 5 continents.
The 64th Prix Italia is currently underway in Turin.
